Privacy Policy

AgriVest (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of the organisations and individuals who use our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to it.

By using AgriVest, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. This policy applies to all surfaces of the platform, including the staff application, the owner portal, and the public website.

We collect the following categories of data:

Account and organisation data

• Organisation name, slug, and operational settings (e.g. grazing rate, SMS sender ID)
• Administrator and staff names, email addresses, phone numbers, and roles

Programme data

• Cattle records: visual IDs, ear tags, entry dates, weights, exit records, and health events
• Batch information and weight session data uploaded by your staff
• Settlement records including grazing fees and financial calculations

Owner-investor data

• Owner names, phone numbers, email addresses, national ID numbers, and bank or M-Pesa payment details — entered by your organisation’s staff

Usage data

• Log data, including IP addresses, browser types, pages visited, and timestamps, collected automatically when you use the platform
• An audit log of data-mutating actions taken within your organisation’s account

We use the data we collect to:

• Operate and deliver the AgriVest platform and its features
• Send transactional notifications (SMS and email) to staff and owner-investors as configured by your organisation
• Process settlements and generate financial statements
• Provide customer support and respond to enquiries
• Monitor platform health, diagnose technical issues, and improve the service
• Notify you of material changes to these policies or the platform

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build marketing profiles based on your usage.

Your data is stored on Supabase, a managed PostgreSQL database platform. Supabase operates on AWS infrastructure. Data may be stored in data centres outside Kenya, but is protected by appropriate technical and organisational safeguards.

We implement Row Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure that each organisation’s data is isolated — no organisation can access another’s data. Access within an organisation is further controlled by role-based permissions.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for commercial purposes.

We share data with the following service providers only to the extent necessary to deliver the platform’s functionality:

• Africa’s Talking — for sending SMS notifications to staff and owner-investors. Only the recipient phone number and message content are transmitted.
• Resend — for sending transactional email notifications. Only the recipient email address and message content are transmitted.
• Paystack — for processing subscription payments when billing is activated. Only billing-related information is shared; no cattle or owner data is ever transmitted to Paystack.

We may disclose data if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request from authorities in Kenya.

Your data is retained for as long as your organisation’s account is active. If you close your account:

• Your data will be retained for 90 days after closure to allow you to request an export before permanent deletion.
• After 90 days, your organisation’s data will be permanently deleted from our systems, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain records.

You may request an export of your data at any time using the built-in export tools within the platform, or by contacting us at support@agrivest.co.ke.

Owner-investors who access the owner portal can only view data that belongs to them — specifically, their own animals and their own settlement records. They cannot view other owners’ data, other animals, or any administrative or financial records beyond their own.

Portal access is granted by your organisation’s administrator and can be revoked at any time.

You have the right to:

• Access the data your organisation holds on the platform at any time
• Export your data in CSV or PDF format using the built-in tools
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data upon account closure

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice within the platform. Your continued use of AgriVest after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
